Rail Sleeper revitalisation project, Gawler
Service Provided: Recycling of 425 tonnes of wooden rail way sleepers.
Project Summary: 27.5 kilometers of railway line was upgraded by the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure in SA. The project is being delivered by Tracksure, for the Department, which requested the sleepers should be diverted from going to landfill. SITA-ResourceCo was able to receive and process this material which is turned into Processed Engineered Fuel (PEF) for use as a supplementary fuel to fire the kiln at Adelaide Brighton Cement in Birkenhead.
