Power Generation

ResourceCo Energy has spent over five years developing opportunities for power generation utilising the SITA-ResourceCo alternative fuel. Historically, Australia has had low power prices by global standards via an abundance of low cost coal. This has limited development of the biomass based power generation industry in Australia, other than the sugar industries successful adoption of bagasse.

Despite the strong presence of Waste to Energy (WtE) power generation in Europe over the past 20 years, Australia by comparison has experienced limited development, the consistency and security of the feedstock used as the primary fuel source has also been a factor.

Regulatory authorities have rightly steered away from “mass incineration” models but is demonstrating support for manufactured fuel outcomes using recycled materials under the traditional waste hierarchy models.

SITA-ResourceCo having produced alternatives fuels for over 10 years and successfully combusted in excess of 700,000 tonnes under strict manufacturing specification are ideally placed to provide a consistent biomass based fuel specially designed for power generation.

The SITA-ResourceCo manufacturing process for alternative fuels is not a traditional WtE opportunity but a defined alternative fuel manufacturing process produced from recyclable materials. SITA-ResourceCo call the process RtE (Recycling to Energy) as the waste elements are removed during the manufacturing process.

Over the past five years ResourceCo has engaged in research and development for the establishment of a small scale base load renewable power generation model.

ReourceCo Energy has now established a specialist renewable energy company named REGEN Australia Pty Ltd to develop small scale (10-15 MW) purpose built based load (24/7) renewable energy (REC compliant) power generation plants. These power plants will operate in tandem with the SITA-ResourceCo alternative fuel manufacturing plants to supply approximately 100,000 tones of alternative fuel per annum specifically for power generation to dedicated end users.

REGEN Australia has created a joint venture with one of the world leading infrastructure groups providing strong industry expertise and access to significant capital and SITA-ResourceCo (as fuel supplier) to undertake a national roll out of renewable energy power plants. Subject to approvals it is expected the first of these plants will be operational late 2014.

REGEN Australia is well positioned to take industry leadership in the bioenergy power generation market in Australia.
