In March 2010, ResourceCo established an exciting new joint venture company to take the Group's Alternative Fuel technology directly into the Asian markets.
ResourceCo Asia Pte Ltd ("ResourceCo Asia") is a joint venture company based in Singapore. Our joint venture partner, Readymix Holdings International Pty Ltd ("Readymix"), is an industry leader in ready-mix concrete and quarries and has developed market-leading businesses in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam.
As joint venture partners, Readymix brings over 20 years of experience in Asian business practices and vital local experience in quarrying and related products and services. With its strong background in quarrying, Readymix shares many cultural similarities with ResourceCo and this has provided the basis of a solid partnership.
ResourceCo are the experts for alternative fuel development. We have 10 years' experience in materials processing with a quarrying heritage and strong partnerships in the resource recovery sector delivering a diverse source of feedstock from these relationships.
ResourceCo Asia's first project in the region is a newly built Processed Engineered Fuel (PEF) manufacturing facility, in Ipoh, Malaysia. The fuel generated from the facility will co-fire the Lafarge cement kilns in the Ipoh region, reducing the reliance on fossil fuels in the production of cement. It is the company's intention to partner with cement manufacturers across Asia to ascertain, realise and share the full value of alternative fuels usage in cement manufacture.
Products
ResourceCo Asia will focus on the production of PEF from various source streams. We understand the need to secure reliable sources of waste and to process this cost effectively to produce consistent high calorific PEF. From our Singapore based hub we are able to secure waste streams from across the region and deploy in-country processing solutions that take account of Asia's unique waste landscape.
The Opportunity
Critical to any PEF business model is securing a relationship with the right end user. In Australia, ResourceCo's key end user relationship is with Adelaide Brighton Limited, where PEF is used as an alternate fuel source in their cement kiln.
Australia has a total of 7 cement kilns, whilst throughout Asia the number exceeds 200. ResourceCo Asia has identified the increasing need for Asian cement companies to find alternatives to traditional fossil fuels and aims to leverage its expertise against the sheer volume of cement manufactured in the region.
We partner in the development and operation of the processing plant, reducing risk to achieve mutually beneficial results. We understand the long term vision to provide both an economically prosperous operation and a reduction in the carbon output to the environment.
