About ResourceCo
ResourceCo began operating in South Australia in 1991. From our early days as a contract concrete crushing business, we quickly established ourselves at the forefront of resource recovery in both South Australia and nationally.
The board of ResourceCo soon recognised the need to expand the recycling services we offered, so in 1992 we established a central facility at Wingfield, north of Adelaide. Not only could we now service a far wider range of customer needs, we were able to process substantially more waste than what was the current practice.
After trading predominantly as a crushing business for 5 years, the company expanded even further. In 1997 we commissioned the construction of a purpose-built processing facility for commercial and industrial waste recycling - one of the most advanced facilities of its kind, anywhere in the world.
With the ever-increasing cost of operating landfills and their imminent closure, the processing of commercial and industrial waste into alternative fuels is fast becoming a core part of ResourceCo's business. With our joint venture partner, Adelaide Brighton Cement, we have invested more than $20m in this area of the business, establishing the Alternative Fuel Company in 2002.
Such has been the success of this SA born waste transformation initiative, we have partnered with the environmental solution company SITA, to help us take the benefits interstate - and ultimately overseas.
