The Carbon Issue
ResourceCo is in the business of resource recovery and provides environmental services as a beneficial by-product of its core business. For example, the recovery of resources from landfill waste materials conserves landfill space, reduces the potential for groundwater pollution and importantly, reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Every tonne of waste with common materials - such as wood and paper - is actually a greenhouse liability that continues to generate methane, a strong greenhouse gas, for over 50 years.
ResourceCo is committed to activities that; reduce the greenhouse gas liability of generated waste, increase the recycling of materials with lower energy requirements than virgin resources, and reduces the use of fossil fuels. For example, ResourceCo's manufactured fuel product, made in conjunction with SITA Environmental Solutions, has already displaced thousands of tonnes of fossil gas use.
Over the coming months ResourceCo will be actively improving its own internal measurement and monitoring practices to become 'carbon ready'. ResourceCo will be working with their key partners and customers to find opportunities where significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions can be made. The reality is that ResourceCo have always been in the business of improved sustainable outcomes and they are keen to play their part in Australia's transition to a new carbon economy.
