As a natural extension of ResourceCo’s core environmental and recycling platform, the company has developed a strong presence in the emerging carbon industry. Through the establishment of ResourceCo Carbon Pty Ltd (“ ResourceCo Carbon”) the group has quickly established a profitable presence by focussing on the delivery of carbon abatement solutions for end use by Australian businesses.
ResourceCo Carbon is achieving real commercial outcomes in this emerging sector having recently completed the registration and sale of over 320,000 tonnes of carbon abatement under a landmark transaction with the South Australian State Government.
The ResourceCo Group, as Australia’s leading manufacturer of Alternative Fuel is a registered provider of carbon abatement under the Australian Federal Governments, Department of Climate Change, Greenhouse Friendly™ carbon abatement program. The unique recycling process creates a definable carbon benefit through the avoidance of the disposal of material to landfill and prevents the subsequent creation of harmful methane gasses.
The carbon benefit generated by the SITA Resourceco transaction is the equivalent of keeping 64,000 cars off the roads for a year or reducing the electricity useage of 45,000 Australian households for a year.

Following on from ResourceCo’s success in the creation and sale of carbon abatement, the group has invested significantly in the development of the Australian carbon industry by taking a diversified approach via a number of direct investments. These include both directly into specific carbon abatement generation projects and the compliance and auditing area of this fast growing industry.
Carbon Abatement Projects
ResourceCo carbon has made a significant investment in a range of direct carbon abatement generation activities including, the registration of avoided deforestation carbon projects and the creation and registration of designated carbon sinks using existing forestry assets.
These projects will be registered and sold down to ResourceCo clients and other major Australian corporations as voluntary carbon to assist these groups offset their carbon emissions.
Balance Carbon Pty Ltd
Balance Carbon is an early stage business specialising in assisting its clients to minimise their impact on the environment. The specialised service offering includes ‘measurement, management and mitigation of clients carbon footprints. Measurement, known as a carbon audit is the core business of Balance Carbon.
Balance Carbon has the platform to seize opportunities as the market matures and demand for carbon audits increases through social pressure and regulatory requirement.
